My mother was raised on a farm near Hydro, OK.
The only daughter of Glen and Mable Ditmore,
Luella grew up with 3 brothers who were a constant source of aggravation. Luella was a good student. In 1936, although terribly ill with fever, she came in 2nd place in a state-wide typing contest. My mother was the sweetest person God ever created. She eventually became mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to some of the luckiest kids on earth.
Glen and Mable Ditmore came to Oklahoma as small children, Glen from North Carolina, Mable from Missouri. Glen was the son of John Henry and Malora Ditmore. Both grew up in large families that settled in the western part of the state. They married on September 27, 1917 and raised 4 children. They operated several restaurants in Weatherford, Oklahoma. My grandparents were more in love than any two people I have ever met. Even in their later years, they acted like newlyweds. .
