Welcome to my Pennsylvania
A great many of my ancestors came from Pennsylvania and I had the opportunity to visit there in the summer of 2002. I would go back in an instant. The Commonweatlth of Pennsylvania ("it is not a state", I was told on more than one occasion) is fascinating. I located several historical sites that pertain directly to my family. A few pictures are included here. I've also included several links to some of my favorite sites about Pennsylvania. The poem by Rudyard Kipling, says it perfectly about how I feel about this wonderful place.
"If you're off to Philadelphia in the morning
And wish to prove the truth of what I say
I pledge my word you'll find
The Pleasant land behind
Unaltered since Red Jackets rode this way

Still the pine woods scents the noon
Still the cat bird sings his tune
Still Autumn sets the maple-forest blazing
Still the grape-vine thru the dusk
Flings her soul-compelling musk
Still the fire-flies in the corn make night amazing!

They are there, there, there with Earth immortal.
(Citizens I give you friendly warning)
The things that truly last
When view and time have passed,
They are all in Pennsylvania this morning."
